Can you share a bit about your musical journey and how you first got started as a DJ and producer?
I started my music life and career .. as a bass player in a funk music band at the beginning of the 90‘s. After I had played bass guitar in different top 40 cover bands ..for making it possible for me to living from my bass guitar playing and making music..
After I had played bass guitar for years for different famous acts . Till I realised that I had a good hand for writing pop and rock songs.. after some artists going into the charts with my songs.. I am completely focused my music life on song and lyrics writing..
My passion for house/dance/electronic music..wakes up later..when I’m realised that this styles of music are so close to my passion for funk and soul music ..that I got all my music life. That was the moment when I started to produce house/dance and electronic stuff..and working as DJ
Your style blends various electronic genres. How would you describe your sound, and what influences have shaped it over the years?
I really can’t say that, and have honestly no answer of that question, because I love and respect and enjoy to listen from so many different producers and different DJ artist the music.
What is your creative process like when producing new tracks? Do you have any rituals or routines that help you get into the zone?
That’s very easy for me because I am doing it close to all of my life, when I’m entering into my studio, It feels like my brain is going automatically into a creative modus, and I’m enjoying nothing more than hearing and feeling like something is growing up what makes me feeling happy.
You’ve performed at numerous places. What has been your most memorable live performance experience so far?
My DJ life started In Hong Kong, where I opened my first own label and lived for 10 years. So 90% of my experiences as DJ are from different clubs in different Asian countries.. it’s not possible for me to say which place (club) was the best or most exciting place, I can’t choose between all of the wonderful happy experiences of mine
How do you approach the task of creating a setlist for a live show? Do you prefer to plan it out in advance or go with the flow of the crowd?
Mostly I prefer to have a set list, because I like to play bass or guitar and keyboard .. to make a mix of DJ and live performance if that’s possible..
But, of course it is not a problem to change all and following the mood and flow of the people. Important for me is, that everyone is happy and will forget all of the daily problems and worries, in these difficult times.
Collaboration is big part of the electronic music scene. Have you worked with any other artists recently, and are there any dream collaborations you hope to achieve?
Yes, and I really love to do this. But the true is that I don’t know how this works in the house/dance/ electronic music scene…
I mean how to meet or find someone who is interested in this.
I am very happy and proud to say that I will have my first collaboration with Jesse Skeens the owner and friend of mine, from the Medway studios in London, he has really the same passion and love for music as me.
We are still working together on some tracks, for a little club and festival tour in India.. an idea that we got together, and it looks like our dream is coming true..
What do you find most challenging and most rewarding about being a DJ and producer in today's music industry?
Of course we have to distinguish between, the difference music styles that are existing.
Every type of music direction has his unique and own rules and challenges. As DJ musician and producer Is my personal favorite challenge to make my own music and to find and create my own sound.
But that doesn’t mean that I don’t admire or respect DJs who play perfect playlists through their good taste in music and their experience. I very much like and enjoy it to play music from other artists too.
The electronic music landscape is constantly evolving. How do you stay current with new trends and technologies while maintaining your unique sound?
That's something I really like about electronic music, the constant change and energetic process of renewal and the many new possibilities that the unstoppable advancement of technology gives us n the field of music production. Modern technology will not influence my own sound, but it helps me to implement and realize faster what I want to create.
Can you talk about a project or track that holds special significance for you and why it stands out in your career?
Of course I can talk about that, but my experience has taught me, that it’s not good to look back, and to deal with what once was.
As a musician you can always impress people, if you tell them what you have done and what you have achieved in the past, but none of that is important anymore. I just want to look forward. I am very grateful that music enables me to have a good life, and the most important song for me is always the next song...
Looking ahead, what are your goals and aspirations for the future? Are there any upcoming releases or projects that you’re particularly excited about?
Funny that you are asking me about the future. Because my next song release is called Future. And of course, I wish that I reach many people with my music and make them happy... and that my label- Señorita Records- grows and thrives. It’s a very important thing for me to say, that I have never made music for catching up fame or any unrealistic things like that. I make music because I love music :)
