Giom returns with Classics Part 1
Giom returns with purpose, perspective, and a timely reminder of why his name still carries weight in deep house circles. Giom Classics Part. 1, the inaugural release on Supremus Records’ new vinyl series, is more than a retrospective, it is a carefully curated reintroduction, bridging a decade-old catalogue with a fresh generation of selectors and dance floors.
Marking just over 10 years of Supremus, the label’s collaboration with Juno feels both celebratory and strategic. For years, Giom’s early productions have circulated digitally, quietly building cult status among DJs while remaining frustratingly absent from wax. That gap is finally closed here, with fully remastered cuts that do not just revisit the past, they amplify it.
The A-side is led by “The Message,” the track that started it all back in 2015. Even now, it is easy to hear why it earned such high praise on release. Built on warm, rolling grooves and understated musicality, it captures that elusive balance between accessibility and depth. There is a timeless quality to it, not in a nostalgic sense, but in the way it sidesteps trends altogether. It still works, and crucially, it still feels relevant.
Flip the record and the tone shifts slightly deeper into the underground. “Last Dance” carries a more nu-disco energy, driven by hypnotic rhythms and subtle progression, while “People” rounds out the release with a groove-led, funky sensibility that feels tailor-made to rock a basement club. Together, the B-side selections underline Giom’s versatility and instinct for dancefloor dynamics, not just producing tracks, but shaping moods.

What gives this release additional weight is the context behind it. After stepping away from house music in 2018 due to burnout, Giom’s return has been gradual and organic. His time spent touring as a drummer and forming a pop project added new layers to his musical identity, and you can sense that renewed perspective even in these older works. This is not just a reissue campaign, it is part of a wider creative reset.
There is also a clear awareness of the current landscape. With younger DJs rediscovering his catalogue and vinyl culture continuing its resurgence, Giom Classics Part. 1 lands at exactly the right moment. It speaks both to longtime fans who missed out the first time around and to a new audience digging beyond the algorithm.
Looking ahead, Parts 2 and 3 promise to expand the series, alongside new material and a forthcoming live show. If this first instalment is anything to go by, Giom is not just revisiting his legacy, he is actively reshaping it.
For a debut vinyl outing, it is confident, considered, and deeply rooted in what makes house music endure, groove, soul, and a connection to the floor.
