Ramona Yacef mixes Nighclubber 156
Born in Torino, Italy, Ramona Yacef dedicates her life, in full, to music. At the early age of 5 she began playing piano, which has immediately become her first big passion. She grew up as an artist firstly in Torino with her crew called, We Play The Music We Love then she moved to Paris where she has always proved her talent and fine taste; in the words of the French Trax Magazine she is "the Italian music expert". Ramona Yacef has hit clubs playing at Made Festival, Concrete, Rex Club, Dehors Brut, Sunwaves, Arte Concert and many more...
As well as collaborating with the crew CrazyJack she spends her time in the studio, between gigs and radio shows. Warm sounds do not allow us to confine her style under any music genre because her music is not only for the dancefloors but also for those ears that appreciate eclectic grooves and refined rhythms, coming from all Ramona Yacef´s endless musical influences. She recently founded her own Record Label, " Lescale Recordings" with the ambition to encompass all kinds of electronic music. The common factors are quality, authenticity and consistency. The name, "LESCALE" was inspired by the theme of travel, of musical scales and ladders of life.

Tell us a bit about this mix? Where did you record it and when?
During this special year, I was in the last months of my pregnancy when I recorded it in my home studio. Without the usual drinking and smoking that can go with a night out, I was focusing in a different way and I felt more receptive and connected to the music. Becoming a mother transcends you towards it in unexpected directions.
How does your mood dictate what you play?
It’s part of the process. Like when two friends meet, if both of them are in a bad mood, their meeting will actually create positive energy and build a connection. When I play to an audience, it’s all about empathy and energy between me and the people who receive my music and creating this invisible tie.
But as a professional, it’s always better to put aside your bad feelings and give your best.
Can you talk us through some of the records and transitions on the mix?
All the tracks come from my label "Lescale Recordings", some of them are already released and others still unreleased.
The set embraces all kinds of music, from the minimal to the techno, house and breakbeat.. Whoever knows me knows that I’m eclectic and I love all music at 360°.
What’s important is to create coherence between each transition. Like in a room where every element has its right place, frequencies play the same part in a track.
When you make a transition, you have to respect that rule.
I studied classical music, jazz and rock, this is why there are no limits to my curiosity and the possibilities I want to explore. I hate to categorize, I always try to erase the differences. When I was younger, I was a bit lost between genres and tried to sort out which one was better than the other. I felt differently to other people but I soon learnt there’s no right or wrong, there’s just you. What makes you different will be your strength and what will always make your originality and authenticity.
Music aside, what else is keeping you busy right now?
It’s hard to say music aside for me…It’s part of my life and now that everything is starting back, it’s important to work twice more. I’m focusing on my music career and consolidating its foundation for the upcoming year. But the main reason behind all of this is, of course, my son.
What have you been busy working on recently (musically) and what else can we look forward to from you over the next while?
I have an exciting project coming up with my friend Dandy Jack, and some nice vinyls soon to be released on my label but I can’t say more than that..
