Victor Tomasi chats deep house influences
Victor Tomasi is an emerging figure in the French house scene. He has collaborated with artists such as Kazam, Larry Houl, and Nomeo. His music combines classic house grooves with live instrumentation, creating a signature hybrid sound.
Victor has just released his new EP “Democracy” on July 18, 2025 which was composed in Paris, the EP draws inspiration from live concert musicianship to introduce new textures into club-oriented electronic music. All basslines were recorded on an electric bass guitar, while the acoustic drums were captured at Studio M in Montreuil. The result is an introspective journey, driven by dynamic arrangements rooted in the tradition of house music with a human touch.
We managed to grab Victor to talk us through a few of his favourite deep house records that helped shape his sound…
Cinthie - Rain Over Paris
Cinthie is a true house master. I had the chance to see her play very recently for the 5-year anniversary of Frappé, a label I’ve worked with — and she absolutely tore the club down, just flowing effortlessly from one record to the next.
There’s something special and authentic about the way she DJs, and you can feel that same energy in her productions. That’s why her work inspires me so much.
By the way, I’m writing these words from Paris… and it’s raining. Fitting.
Dam Swindle - Forever and Ever (Makez Remix)
I’m based in Paris, but I really love the Amsterdam scene. Artists like Dam Swindle and Makez manage to blend the essence of classic house with the modernity of today’s production techniques and instruments and they do it so well. I’m trying to do the same with my music.
I was lucky enough to catch them when they played in Paris, and they definitely didn’t disappoint.
Lüma-G - Toast & Coffee
We had the chance to share the same lineup this winter, and it was a real revelation for me. Lüma-G plays her music with no compromises, full of passion and endless knowledge.
You can feel it in her productions too: they’re surgically precise, yet full of soul. That balance really inspires me. It reminds me to never settle, to dig deeper into sound design and arrangement, while still keeping the emotional core alive.
Go check out more of her work, seriously!
Milton Chuquer - Eh Hup (DJ Spen house mix)
I had the chance to play a B2B with Milton Chuquer at Djoon in Paris, alongside my big brother — the Tomasi Brothers in full effect! It was a real mixing lesson. I was blown away by the way Milton plays his soulful sound and keeps the crowd on the dancefloor without ever pushing the BPMs. That’s the power of his productions and edits — the quality speaks for itself.
Alex Notal - Crushin’
How do you make a track feel complex with so few elements? That’s something I really admire. I love this track because, even though it’s very deep, something happens every five seconds. There’s always movement, tension, or surprise. Aleqs Notal does this so well. He’s a master at keeping things evolving without ever overcrowding the sound.
Charleeps - calling from the earth
Charleeps has a true sense of creative freedom in his productions, along with a real mastery of detail. This track is very deep — it leans towards electronica, but still holds on to a deep house spirit.
It’s the kind of track that helps me push the boundaries of genres and rethink how far a sound can go.
Kerri Chandler - Get it Off - DJ deep Edit
I often find myself questioning the structure of a track — how to keep it evolving without overcomplicating things. Kerri Chandler has always been a huge reference for me in that sense. His structures are simple, effective, and always hit the right spot. He’s the GOAT.
