Vienna city guide with Peletronic...

Peletronic, based in Vienna, is widely recognized as a diverse artist. He can tastefully and strategically blend various subgenres in house, electro and techno, depending on his reaction to the environment and the crowd. Expanding skills in a freestyle manner can be a powerful tool when trying to set an appropriate mood for the occasion. It enables him to play with different feelings and expectations. Combining this with the background of DJ experience, since 2004, completes the picture. After years of development in the studio he graduated with a master's degree in digital media technology. The strong focus on audio-engineering gave him opportunities to implement his musical ideas in a more professional way. Influences are ranging from dusty jazz to futuristic electronica, and literally everything in between. As long as it's decent. Combining these two elements with a dub-mixing approach in the studio opens up a lot of space for 'lucky jams'. His music got signed on imprints like Fortunea, RFR and Percebes Musica - to name a few. Most of the works are available on vinyl and digital.

Peletronic is back on Fortunea Records with another 4-tracker ‘Restless EP’ so we thought it'd be a good idea to take a tour around some of his favourite spots in Vienna which both he and Fortunea call home. Here’s how it went down…

'I moved to Vienna about 15 years ago, and luckily, I’ve never really thought about leaving since.
The district I live in is called Ottakring — probably not the fanciest part of the city, but it’s full of soul and character.

Ottakring

With my track 1160 Dub  from the new EP, I wanted to pay tribute to my neighborhood — 1160 is Ottakring’s postal code.
Most people don’t know this, but the district is home to Europe’s longest street market: the Brunnenmarkt, which stretches for about a kilometer.

Brunnenmarkt

I love going there on Saturday mornings, just to stroll around and grab breakfast at one of the food stalls.
You’ll find dishes from all kinds of cultures, reasonably priced — and every visit brings something new to discover.

Tagada

At one end of the Brunnenmarkt, you’ll run into Yppenplatz, a vibrant square with great cafés, good restaurants, and chilled-out spots where people hang out or play a round of table tennis. A while ago, a new club opened there too — it’s called Tagada.

Usus am Wasser

If you venture a bit beyond Ottakring, you’ll come across plenty of other venues for electronic music — places like Sass, Rhiz, Flucc, Celeste or Prst — just to name a few. My favorite summer hangout and party spot is Usus am Wasser, right by the Danube river.
Over the years, we’ve also hosted a few events there, as well as in some of the clubs I just mentioned.

Das Market Recordstore

Beyond nightlife, Vienna also has a great selection of record stores — like Das Market, Substance, or Rave Up Records — perfect if you’re on the hunt for new vinyl.

That’s it for now—hope this helps with planning your next city trip! 😊'
