Sonan & Didier Armeni on collaboration...
When two artists with a deep passion for house music come together, something special happens. Sonan and Didier Armeni have been friends for years, always exchanging ideas and vibing over their shared love of music. But despite countless conversations, it took time for them to finally step into the studio together.
That moment arrived with ‘One Day You Came’—a track born from pure instinct, friendship, and a shared vision of soulful house. With Sonan’s emotionally driven storytelling and Didier’s classic house roots, the result is a record that feels both timeless and fresh. It captures the essence of house music at its best: groove-driven, deeply evocative, and effortlessly uplifting.
As they break down the creative process behind the track, Sonan and Didier reflect on their influences, the magic of spontaneous nights out, and how their collaboration just… clicked. We caught up with them recently to learn more...

Can you walk us through the creative process behind “One Day You Came” and how the collaboration between the two of you came to be?
Sonan: This track was a long time coming. Didier and I have been friends for years, always talking about music, sharing ideas, and vibing. But somehow, we never actually got in the studio together. One day, we just thought, why haven’t we done this yet? So we finally made it happen. No pressure, no expectations, just pure fun. And once we started, everything flowed naturally. It was like all those years of talking about making music together had been leading up to this moment.
Didier: Yeah, and I think that’s what makes this track special. We weren’t trying to force a hit or overthink anything. It was just two friends having a good time, bringing our sounds together in a way that felt effortless. You can hear that in the track, it’s got that groove, that emotion, but also that raw energy that only comes from genuine collaboration. The best part was when we finished the first draft and just looked at each other like, yeah, this is it.
What does soulful house mean to you personally, and how did you work to capture that feeling in this release?
Didier: For me, soulful house is all about movement and emotion. It’s that kind of music that doesn’t just make you dance, but it makes you feel something. I’ve always loved house music that tells a story, whether it’s through the groove, the chords, or the atmosphere. With this track, I wanted to bring that warm, nostalgic energy but still keep it fresh. It’s something you can play in a club, but it also works when you’re just chilling, reflecting on life.
Sonan: Yeah, and for me, it’s all about storytelling. When I hear a great house track, I want to close my eyes and see something—like a scene from a movie or a memory coming back to life. That’s what we aimed for with this track. The vocals bring that personal, intimate touch, and the groove keeps it uplifting. I think soulful house is special because it leaves space for your own emotions: you hear the track, and it becomes your own story.
You both have distinct styles—Didier, your classic house roots, and Sonan, your emotional, story-driven approach. How did you blend those sounds to create something cohesive?
Sonan: Honestly, it just clicked. We weren’t trying to force anything, and I think that’s why it worked so well. Didier’s got this instinctive feel for groove, and I love creating atmosphere and depth, so it was more about amplifying each other’s strengths than trying to find a middle ground.
Didier: Exactly. I think when collabs don’t work, it’s usually because people are trying too hard to balance things out. But with us, it was just natural. I brought my classic house groove, Sonan brought his emotional depth, and the result was something that feels both nostalgic and fresh. When we played the first version back, we knew we had something special.
The vocals on this track are really evocative. How did you go about selecting or working with the vocalist, and what were you trying to convey through the lyrics?
Sonan: We wanted a voice that felt real. You know when you hear someone sing, and you can just feel their emotion, even if the lyrics are simple? That’s what we were after. We found this vocal, and their tone was just perfect—raw, honest, and full of feeling. We spent a lot of time making sure the vocal sat right in the mix. Too polished, and it wouldn’t feel personal. Too processed, and it would lose that human touch. We found that sweet spot where it feels like they’re right there in the room with you.
Didier: And the lyrics are open enough that anyone can relate to them. It’s not telling you exactly what to feel—it just creates a mood, a vibe, and lets you connect with it in your own way. That’s what makes great house music so powerful.
Were there any specific records, artists, or memories that influenced this track’s sound?
Didier: I’ve always been inspired by classic house legends like Kerri Chandler and Carl Cox But at the same time, I didn’t want this to feel too retro—I wanted it to be something fresh that still carries that timeless house DNA. I think that balance really comes through in the groove.
Sonan: For me, I’m always drawn to artists who make house music feel like an experience, for instance I really love artists like ANOTR, Jungle and Barry Can’t Swim. That emotional storytelling aspect really inspires me. And honestly, I think a lot of this track was influenced by nights out in Amsterdam. That feeling of being in a club, surrounded by people, but also having these little introspective moments where the music just hits you in a different way.
You’ve said this track is about those magical moments when music brings people together. Is there a particular memory or experience that inspired this theme?
Sonan: 100%. There was this one night when Didier and I ended up at a party at Paradiso in Amsterdam after having a couple of beers at a bar beforehand. It was one of those nights where nothing was planned, but it just turned into something unforgettable. The energy was unreal, the crowd was fully locked in, and the music felt like it was bringing everyone together. That’s what we wanted to capture in this track.
Didier: Yeah, those are the best nights. The ones where you don’t check your phone, you don’t think about time—you just exist in the music. That’s the feeling we wanted to bottle up in this track.
Sonan, coming off the success of your viral debut, “Loud Enough,” how has your approach to making music evolved since then, and how does that evolution show up in “One Day You Came”?
Sonan: “Loud Enough” showed me how much people connect with authenticity. Since then, I’ve been even more focused on making music that’s personal, that tells a story. With this track, I wanted every part of it—the groove, the vocals, the atmosphere—to feel like a moment you can see in your head. It’s about making music that doesn’t just sound good but actually means something to people.
The track feels timeless yet fresh—how do you strike that balance between paying homage to classic house and pushing the genre forward?
Didier: It’s about taking that classic house groove and adding new layers to it. The bounce, the warmth, that’s all classic house. But then you add new textures, new emotions, and suddenly, it’s something that feels both familiar and new at the same time.
Sonan: Yeah, we’re not trying to reinvent house music, we’re just making it feel real.
What’s next for both of you after this release? Any upcoming projects, tours, or other collaborations on the horizon?
Didier: This is just the beginning. We’ve tapped into something special, and there’s definitely more to come. We’re taking our time, but yeah—expect more.
Sonan: I’m always working on new projects, and Didier and I already have more ideas cooking. But for now, we just want people to experience One Day You Came and make it part of their own story.
