A chat with Romanian DJ, FYNUTZU

Florin Baeanu, also known as FYNUTZU, is a Romanian DJ and producer based in Copenhagen. With a diverse portfolio that ranges from Minimal Deep Tech to Bass House and Tribal House, he has made a name for himself with solid releases on world-renowned labels such as Tiger Records, Hungry Koala, G-Mafia Records, and more.

FYNUTZU has been perfecting his house music over his more than four years in the music business and has just made his debut on Junior Jack's label, Adesso Music, with the single "It's Like This," putting his expertise to the test on the best dancefloors.

Solidity, acumen, technique, and minimalism. The seven minutes of “It's Like This” carry the audience through a groovy bass line and a vocal that plays with the mind, along with precise, delicate, and enthusiastic drums that dictate the rhythm of the body.

FYNUTZU has performed at events and clubs such as Module and Culture Box, as well as public shows. We asked the artist to share some information about his achievements and his latest release on Adesso Music.

Hello, FYNUTZU! It's a pleasure to talk to you! Congratulations on your Adesso Music debut. Tell us a bit about your creative process with “It's Like This.” Apart from house music, what were your references?

Thank you! Lately, I've been into the "Deeperfect" sound with tracks from Joe Vanditti. I actually started working on "It's Like This" with "Stefano Noferini, Joe Vanditti - Trust" as a reference, but as always, I ended up going in a different direction compared to the original track.

You present a wide range of genres in your productions. What inspires you to maintain this diversity and how do you build your identity with the variations?

Looking at my releases, they are quite different from each other. I think the key to maintaining diversity is that I love playing with audio files while producing. I enjoy stretching, adding effects, experimenting, and constantly asking myself, 'How will this sound if I add or remove this?' Regarding my identity, I like to surprise listeners with every track.

You bring solidity to your productions and releases with only a few years in the industry, something that many artists strive for. What were your references and inspirations at the beginning of your learning curve in electronic production?

When I first downloaded FL Studio, I tried making mashups, but creating original music seemed too complex back then. Everything changed after hearing "Losing It” by Fisher. It was so simple yet cool that I thought, 'I can do this.' I became obsessed with trying to replicate it, which I didn't achieve, but it sparked my interest in production. I gradually learned about arrangement, mixing, and mastering.

You've played at Module, Culture Box, and other clubs and events. Can you remember what your first gig was like and how you've evolved on stage today?

My first gig was on New Year's Eve 2019-2020 in my home country, Romania. It was a short gig, but the energy of the crowd was incredible. I've learned a lot since then about reading the crowd, building energy, and creating a memorable experience.

What were the biggest challenges you faced when playing and producing?

Balancing time for both DJing and producing has been a significant challenge. Production can be incredibly time-consuming, with some tracks taking months to complete. Additionally, finding gigs requires consistent networking and building relationships with bookers and event organizers, all while trying to maintain a regular job for financial stability.

Apart from expressing yourself and connecting with your audience, what is your main goal with electronic music?

Beyond the immediate gratification of seeing people enjoying the music I am selecting for them, my ultimate goal is to make a sustainable career out of it. I want to be able to dedicate myself full-time to producing and performing. To achieve this, I’m focusing on developing my production skills and learning the business side of the industry. It's a journey, but I'm determined to succeed.
