Christophe Salin releases Melodies & Harmonies EP
Salin Records sees in its first release of 2025 in some style with the latest release from label head Christophe Salin, who switches gear and delves deep into hypnotic melodies, engrossing rhythmic palettes and sunny, enriching harmonies…
Salin presents a deft blend of profound sensibilities within his music, which surfaces in a myriad of audial styles and feels. His affinity with finding inspiration from a wide variety of sources has served him well, not only taking influence from dance music that has come before, but from the sights and sounds of the world around him. Primarily operating in the realms of house music, Salin has frequently pushed his sound to new parameters, always shifting perspective and allowing his narrative to continue evolving and grooving. It’s a fascinating sound that has endeared many to it, an emotive and meaningful presentation of colourful feels which never fails to inspire and mesmerise.
‘Melodies and Harmonies’, as a title, perfectly encapsulates Salin’s approach to the music contained within. The tracks for the record began life during a period of introspectiveness for Salin following the release of ‘Ocean and Cliffs’, and the track titles are inspired by places in and around the Spanish village of Cadaqués. The tracks have a distinctive uplifting House vibe to them, with ‘Cala Sa Sabolla’ getting things started. Inspired by a small bay near the village, the rhythmic underlay begins proceedings with rich instrumentation. The backdrop chordal sweep then commences to add atmosphere, with the vocal samples adding warmth and onward progression, with the long breakdown then leading into a cascade of key lines. It’s a wondrous release of energy, and one that captures the sense of scale, intimacy and about filling the calm with imaginative features.
‘Llane Gran Y Petit’ arrives next, with this track inspired by a beach of the same name in Cadaqués. The track takes its time to build up to full steam, and really gives a vivid picture of reflecting on in a sunny relaxing space. Balanced, delicate and multi-faceted, Salin weaves melodic features in and out of sight to great effect. Finally, ‘El Gato Azul’ lands, with this cut inspired by Salin’s favourite restaurant in the village. The energy of the track alludes to the restaurant opening up, filling up and the room coming alive with interactivity, smiling faces and laughs. It has a distinctive warmth to it, and as an EP ender it's certainly going to leave happy hearts wherever it ends up.
Christophe Salin evokes vivid memories and imaginations through his music, and with this EP he captures the village of Cadaqués to such an extent that we can almost reach out and touch it. A record that puts melody and harmony left front and centre, and there’s so much to see and explore - so why not take a saunter down to Llane Gran Y Petit, and get lost in the sunset.

We managed to grab Christophe for a word. Here’s what he had to say…
‘At the time my album ‘Ocean & Cliffs’ was released, I was travelling to a wonderful, magical place on the coast of the Mediterranean, in the north of Spain. During this time, I gave a few interviews as part of my album promotion and was confronted with myself - where are my musical roots, what inspires me, who are my heroes, how has my music changed over time, where do I want to go? All these considerations showed me that I wanted to dedicate my next musical project to classic deep house. This music means a lot to me and has given me strength and positive energy for so many years. ‘Ocean & Cliffs’ was conceived as a musical journey and sound design was a big theme on that album. For the new project, however, it should be about emotions, the emotions that house music awakens in me. So I focussed on melodies and harmonies as these are the two most important ways to create emotions. When I was collecting the ideas for this EP, I also took the time to listen to music, especially some DJ mixes, as I wanted to put together a club-ready house EP. Working on the songs was a lot of fun and gave me a lot of positive energy. I'm happy about ‘Melodies & Harmonies’ and I'm happy about the good feedback and support from many DJs, whom I really appreciate and admire.’
