We had the pleasure of touching base with Robin from De La Groove, here's what he had to say about the project…
“Entrée sur liste” is a multi-artist project orchestrated by our label De La Groove, in the service of house music and the dance floors that populate our world. It's precisely for this last reason that the compilation has been conceived as the elaboration of a DJ set. Since we're familiar with this activity, we wanted to delve into something we already knew: diving into the search for tracks with the aim of provoking diverse emotions in a wider audience. Naturally, as our label is mainly inspired by house music and its sub-genres, we naturally gravitated towards this style born in the late 80s.
First we have a sweet, jazzy, groovy ballad “who the fool” by Mona Lee, who gives us the gift of her magnificent vocal timbre. This is followed by “Hot Take NB.1”, a deep, hypnotic journey that naturally takes its place as a tribute to Larry Heard. “First Rhythm”, Dielli's first composition, delivers a powerful house sound, “Biggest of the City” a huge house banger that only Knuckle G has the recipe for, “searchin 4” a 90s garage anthem featuring Larry G and Lydia Scarfo.
The compilation also takes some turns towards broader electronic horizons with, for example, “are you gonna be there” by Nancy-based Kicks, a rich and complete track with multiple influences, and “Rue Grande” by Vanderkraft, which borrows funky sounds from an electro vibe. Chinau's “Left Lovers” is a deep house rooted in melancholy, then comes Scott Patterson's “Feel the Love” with its dancefloor atmosphere and raw beat.
Then we end this exploration with “Breakover” by concept e25, a classic old-school house track that reminds us of the house of the pioneers, and Pedro de Montelimar's track “You”, which sounds like a nostalgic finale that makes us want to start all over again.
So here you have an overview of this compilation, which is the fruit of months of research work that eventually brought together members of our label and guests, the same principle we involve in our line-ups as organizers of house music events in Paris. Our friend Yannick Baumea was in charge of the images for the first part of this series of compilations designed for clubs. The codes associated with nightclubbing, and the warm, comforting colors, appealed to us since the very first draft.
