Frederick Ansgar relaunches SHUVT

Following a year-long hiatus, SHUVT Records returns with renewed focus and a fresh direction, launching its new chapter with a deeply personal and sonically refined release from founder Frederick Angsgar. The label, formerly known as SHUVT.resonance, first emerged in 2020, carving out a reputation for pushing a broad spectrum of deep and minimal house. Between its inception and 2024, SHUVT provided a platform for both emerging and established producers, always placing a strong emphasis on carefully curated artwork and promotional material to support the music it released.

After relocating to London and navigating a period of major life change, Angsgar felt the time was right to reintroduce the label under the new banner of SHUVT Records. ‘Dub Channels’ is the first release in this new phase and reflects a clear vision for the label’s future—a sound rooted in warmth and depth, with a versatility that makes it equally suited to warmups, afterhours sessions, or the right moment in a peak time set.

Sonically, the EP leans further into the dub-inflected textures that have long coloured Angsgar’s productions. While maintaining the energetic pulse necessary for the dancefloor, the tracks explore a more immersive and groove-driven space. It’s a balance that pays tribute to the slower pace of classic dub techno while giving DJs the tools to work beyond the early hours.

The release also features a standout remix of ‘Rotations’ by rising producer Basic 96, who brings an even more submerged and mellow approach to the track. The collaboration was sparked through a casual connection on Instagram earlier this year, after Angsgar shared early teasers of the EP. A mutual appreciation soon followed, making the remix a natural addition to the release.

SHUVT Records will mark its relaunch with a special takeover event at Kristina Records in Hackney on Saturday 26th July, alongside plans for several more releases throughout the year.
