Jesse Leer tells us a bit about his hometown of Seattle...

Jesse Leer began cutting his teeth in the early 2010’s, starting in the college city of Bellingham, and quickly working his way down to Seattle where he calls home now. Being infatuated with people like Terrence Parker, The Rurals, and many other deep inspired artists, Jesse thrived around that sound in the beginning. His releases have spanned across multiple west-coast labels including Golf Clap’s Country Club Disco, and abroad on labels in the UK, and sister to breaks label, 83, Close Your Eyes from Spain.

In 2018, Jesse became a resident of notorious Seattle squad Studio 4/4 and has been working with them since. Throwing some of the best parties this city has to offer, while working with teams across Seattle to bring the dancers of Seattle nights to break away from the norm, and let loose. All while growing his sound in house, electro, breaks, and acid.

While he doesn’t like to put a label on his genre, and favors more to keep it more eclectic, you can be sure to hear a lot of inspirations from the likes of many of the leading electronica and breaks artists. We caught up with Jesse ahead of the release of his EP, Perfect Sense (released via the Uniting Souls Music label) to learn more about his favourite spots in his hometown, Seattle..

Favourite bar

The Reservoir Bar, Seattle

I’m more of the dive variety if I’m looking to go to a bar, and Seattle has those in spades. My favorite of the bunch has to be The Reservoir in North Seattle. Cheap drinks, good people, and a fun atmosphere

I’m a cheap date, as long as the drinks are reasonable, which can be tough to come by in Seattle, I’m in”.

Favourite Restaurant

“Seattle is the king of sushi. Tsui Sushi in Ravenna, North Seattle is the absolute best of the best. Freshest fish with the ebay eye for quality and taste, with sake on demand this spot has everything, and is to die for.

Another one of my favorites is getting a sandwich at Tub’s Subs, I feel it’s hard to get a good sandwich nowadays, especially a sub sandwich. Tub’s outdoes any doubts about that, this place is absolutely killer”.

Club where I am developing a residence and perform regularly

“Monkey Loft, in the heart of SODO Seattle this club has been a staple for dance music. If you are a part of the scene in Seattle, you know this spot. Started over ten years from humble beginnings as an after hours spot to a world class dance hub.

Located close to the Seattle Mariner’s Baseball Stadium, this club is in an industrial area with perfect aesthetic, and even better people. I throw regular events with my team Studio 4/4, everything from minimal to melodic to tech. Second Saturday’s at Monkey Loft

Next up, Tony Y Not, on February 10th. Check here for information on that one.

Your relationship with Uniting Souls Music?

U"niting Souls Music has been a staple in Seattle for double digit years bringing the best of deep and melodic house. They have an event called Diggin’ Deep at Monkey Loft that has brought some of the hottest names in dance music.

Ramiro, the owner, is one of the trend setters, and most beloved of our Seattle folk. He has always given his city the best there is to offer, while giving young new ones their shot.

I signed with them back in 2018 with a deep release and have had a couple VA releases with them as well. This will be my sophomore EP release with USM."

I'll also be hosting an upcoming EP release party at Monkey Loft on January 27th. More info on that one here!
