REFUGE NYC

Sasha rings in NYE. Victor Calderone commands NYD. REFUGE NYC rolls through late-November and December with a stacked run of house + techno heavyweights.

Mike Dunn, Tony Humphries, Vivian Wang, Serge Devant, Eli Escobar, Josh Butler, plus Appetite’s Liam Palmer & Elliot Schooling all land across the schedule.

REFUGE NYC closes out its debut year with a moment that cuts against everything the big-room ecosystem has become in 2025: Sasha playing New Year’s Eve in a no-phones policy 500-cap space.

Since opening this fall, REFUGE has become Brooklyn’s most consistently name-dropped new venue. A club people talk about like a secret they can’t quite keep. Founded by John Dimatteo and sound architect Craig “Shorty” Bernabeu, the space runs on a custom REX analogue system that Shorty personally retunes weekly. The newly finished, custom-engineered DJ booth, a three-month design project, completes the club’s “zero compromise” approach to fidelity and connection.

This winter marks Serge Devant joining as a resident, debuting with an extended after-hours session that’s set to define REFUGE’s late-night DNA going forward. December’s peak arrives with Sasha + Vivian Wang on NYE, followed by Victor Calderone, Avision & Jivan Calderone delivering a full-force New Year’s Day marathon.

Leading up to the year’s finale, REFUGE’s programming fires through international leaders and local pillars. November wraps with a Battle Hymn takeover featuring J. Aria, Michael Magnan & Donofrio, followed by Saturdays with Tim Green, Anthony Middleton, Ranger Trucco and Claudio. Serge Devant steps in for his “After” session; Tony Humphries helms Sunday Selectors; and Thanksgiving Eve brings Natalia Roth, Shahar and Jean Pierre. Battle Hymn returns for a holiday special with Dane Deveraux, Eli Escobar and Tom Peters, before Joey Llanos & Shorty guide the final November Sunday Selectors.

December hits with UK flavours. Josh Butler, Liam Palmer, Elliot Schooling and Heidy P plus Chuwee & Matisa, and a sunrise after-hours with Serge Devant & Dimatteo. The month’s signature nights: Miss Gypsy, Carl Craig & Octave One (Live) on the 20th; Mike Dunn with Cosmo, Simon Heyliger and Mario MPC on the 27th; and Jellybean Benitez closing the year’s final Sunday.

Housed inside a 19th-century industrial structure between East Williamsburg and Bushwick, REFUGE is pure clubcraft: floated maple dancefloor; Studio 54/Sound Factory-level acoustics by Al Fierstein; 35-foot ceilings; exposed brick; no residential restriction, meaning true late nights and real after-hours.

Phones discouraged. No VIP. No bottle service.
Just the space, the sound, and the bodies in it.
