Refuge NYC Marks First Anniversary With September Birthday Season

‍The East Williamsburg venue will host a month-long anniversary programme throughout September, culminating in an exclusive Deep Dish open-to-close set.

One year after opening between East Williamsburg and Bushwick, Refuge NYC is marking its first anniversary with a month-long programme featuring Deep Dish, The Martinez Brothers, Chris Liebing, Rodriguez Jr. Live and more.

Running throughout September, the venue's Anniversary Season culminates in a three-day birthday weekend from September 25th to 27th. Deep Dish will play an exclusive open-to-close set on the opening night, followed by sets from John Dimatteo and Refuge's resident sound engineer Shorty, before Victor Calderone and Brothers Macklovitch , the collaborative project from A-Trak and Chromeo's Dave 1, .close the celebrations.

Elsewhere across the month, the 500-capacity club will welcome Gabriel & Dresden, David Morales, Natasha Diggs, Future.666, David Löhlein, Vanjee, Gorje Hewek, Volen Sentir, Two Shell, Black Asteroid, Akua, Ahadadream, Coffintexts and Serge Devant, among others.

Refuge opened in 2025 with a focus on long-form sets and a music-first clubbing experience. The venue operates without VIP areas or bottle service, placing the dancefloor and sound system at the centre of the experience.

Its custom-built REX analogue sound system was designed by sound engineer Craig "Shorty" Bernabeu, with the team continuing to make adjustments to the room over the past year. These include bespoke analogue EQs, vintage JBL tweeters, ongoing acoustic improvements and redesigned DJ booth monitoring.

The club has also built its identity around its resident DJs, including Victor Calderone, David Morales and Shorty, with its programming combining established names with newer artists from across house, techno and other strands of electronic music.

Refuge's Anniversary Season begins on September 5th with Gabriel & Dresden.

The anniversary weekend takes place from September 25th to 27th.
