Sascha Dive mixes Nightclubber 161...

Hailing from the greater Frankfurt area, Sascha Dive has made quite an impression on the international house and techno circus over the last ten years. Although the deephouse traveller looks back on an amazing amount of pristine releases, with the first official vinyl pressed back in 2007, one can still call him a young gun. If you look around in the deeper fields of house music these days this gifted producer and DJ seems to be an exception. This isn't a disadvantage at all because with all the energy in his mind and hands Sascha Dive proves with every gig and production that he plays on the same level as many of his legends, if not even higher!

Sascha Dive, a forward thinking producer and DJ who still waves the flag of the real vinyl sound and always will. With more young men like him house music will live on forever! We had the pleasure chat with him about upcoming releases and not only. You can also listen his mix for our podcast available on our Youtube and Soundcloud channels.

Tell us a bit about this mix? Where did you record it, and when?

I recorded the mix in my apartment on a really cold day in February in the only place where the sun was shining through the window!
I record all my mixes using two Technic turntables and an Allen & Heath mixer. The mix is only available on vinyl. As with all my podcast mixes, I play records that I prefer the most. Virtually every month, I buy a lot of new records, and sorting through them and bringing the best tracks together is a lot of fun. I always try to mix the tracks to have a unique ‘Dive’ groove or rhythm!

How does your mood dictate what you play?

It is not just the mood. It also depends on what time of day it is. At midday, for example, when the sun is shining, I always tend to play a trancier or melodic sound, whereas at night it tends to be a darker groove that inspires me.

Can you talk us through some of the records and transitions on the mix?

At this moment in time, there is an abundance of good music coming from new artists, many of whom are either starting their own small labels or releasing on some very hard to find underground labels. To name a few, there is a mix combining the Silat Beksi remix and an amazing new record from Lukea, which fit just perfectly together. The last three records are from Guy Contact, Telomere Plastic Label and, last but not least, Solar Suite. All three records have a perfect slight trancy touch but aren’t close to the border of becoming cheesy! All very good work from these artists.

Music aside, what else is keeping you busy right now?

Aside from my regular daytime job (which I had to take up because of the corona crisis), I work on mix-down and mastering for a number of other music styles.

What have you been busy working on recently (musically), and what else can we look forward to from you over the next while?

I have completed quite a few records and projects in the last few months. I finished EP’s for Movida (Frankfurt), Sofia Muzik (L.A.), Saturn Drive (L.A.) & FLMB (Portugal), all of which will be released this year. I have also recently completed work on a remix for Dust Yard, which is due to be released on my ‘home’ label Bondage Music.Next in line after that is a remix for Samuel L Session feat. Elbee Bad on Rhythm Cult.
