Tibi Dabo introduces latest music project ‘Pillow Planet’ alongside the first release

Max Guardans is Tibi Dabo. The name, taken from a hill near his home in Barcelona, has shaped the path of his music and the course of all his endeavours.

‍

The prolific producer and DJ has welcomed releases on labels like Kann and Dial, as well as a full length album ‘Vista’ on Damian Lazarus’ seminal label Crosstown Rebels. He’s played shows and gigs under open skies and in shadowed rooms over the years including—fabric, Burning Man, Garbicz, Hopetosse, and a few Giegling gatherings.

Now, the focus is softer and looser at the edges. As he and a mysterious moniker poi usher in a new project Pillow Planet; a soft landing for sounds that don’t shout, a place where nothing rushes to be explained.

poi says something’s humming under the pavement again. Cracks are opening, clocks are melting and three soft sound-creatures slipped through before anyone noticed. They were about to dissolve into static but poi caught them and wrapped them softly. On September 25th they’ll stretch and blink awake. But poi saved a seat for you.

Pillow Planet 1 lands on 25th September —a three-track EP in collaboration with Dan Galgo. Each record stands apart, yet together they form are seamlessly intertwinned, curated with care by Tibi and Dan. The opening track, ‘Bibliote-k’, drifts into the ethereal, space-tinged territory, a synth-woven tripped out vocal carrying tying it all together. The A2 ‘Sky Highatrist’ is a wonderfully squelchy minimal track, made for the disoriented hours when hazy daylight creeps into the night before, blurring the edges between one moment and the next. The EP closes with ‘Forward Sinking’, a tougher, more driving club cut, crafted for those head-down, hands-up moments where the dancefloor becomes all-consuming.

I found something — I think it’s for you.

It followed me back from the Looping Fence... or maybe I followed it.

It gave off a warmth that didn’t belong to the weather.
