Viva Acid pays homage to Chicago’s acid house scene at 4th annual event

Chicago-based event organizers and cultural innovators, Viva Acid, return for their eagerly awaited fourth season, celebrating the city’s iconic Acid House scene from October 3rd to 6th at the Podlasie Club—the very birthplace of this musical movement.

Over the course of four days, Viva Acid will host a series of inclusive events, workshops, and discussions aimed at fostering creativity and inspiring further innovation within the community.

Viva Acid 2024 emphasizes collaboration and cultivating a strong sense of belonging within the creative world. This year’s theme focuses on overcoming scarcity to build resilient and thriving ecosystems through collective creativity. In an ever-evolving landscape, these discussions serve as a powerful reminder of the foundations upon which the house music scene was built, underscoring the importance of connection in cutting through the noise.

Throughout the four-day event, talks will explore various industry topics, ranging from ‘Maximizing Reach’ to ‘Marketing Authenticity,’ while workshops will delve into production techniques with sessions on ‘Approaching Remixing’ and ‘Creating What You Hear.’ Attendees will gain invaluable insights from Acid House pioneers such as Gene Farris, DJ Hyperactive, Radio Slave, Glenn Underground, and many more.

On Thursday, October 3rd, Viva Acid will also premiere Children of Acid, a documentary produced in collaboration with Baffe that provides a deep dive into Chicago’s vibrant rave culture—an essential watch for anyone interested in the origins and evolution of acid house.

No Acid House event would be complete without live performances, and Viva Acid 2024’s party lineup is no exception. Expect electrifying sets from artists like Radio Slave, Flores Negras, Lauren Flax b2b DJ Slugo, Steve Noah, Microdot, Glenn Underground, and others who have mastered their craft and risen to prominence within the scene.

At a time when the industry is constantly shifting and emerging artists may lose sight of their core creative purpose, Viva Acid’s programming serves as a crucial reminder of the enduring principles that continue to shape the house music scene, offering inspiration for those aiming to make a lasting impact.
